Minishowcase Image Gallery Review

Though most geeks want very complex scripts with endless options there are those of us that just need something that simply works.

Minishowcase doesn’t have a backend so to create galleries you have to create a folder for each gallery section and then upload the images by FTP or use a file management script. The script detects all the folders in the “galleries” folder and then creates the sections

Image thumbnails are created automatically and they are displayed using a lightbox jscript, although the script loads a bit too fast unlike other lightbox scripts.

There script is very configurable and it can even be themed. By default Minishowcase comes with 2 themes, one black and one blue. These are practically just CSS settings for colours, fonts and various images so it is pretty easy to customize the colour palette.

Conclusion: this isn’t the right gallery for everybody, but if you want something quick and simple it’s a good choice.
